I did not pivot to AI. AI moved into my lane.
In 1981, my dad brought home a Commodore VIC-20 and plugged it into the television in our den. I was 13. I typed my first line of code on that machine, and I learned the thing that has quietly run my whole career: the machine listens.
I went on to spend 25 years teaching people what to say in the hardest conversations in business, for Fortune 500 teams and three NFL franchises. Then AI arrived, and it did not arrive somewhere else. It arrived in my territory: contact centers are ground zero for AI, and my clients started asking AI questions in the middle of de-escalation engagements.
So I did what I have done since the den. I started typing. I built my own AI back office, more than 30 working AI employees that run my firm today, and I built AI practice systems that my enterprise clients now use with their teams. I did not add AI to my business. I noticed it had moved into my lane, and I learned exactly what to say to it.
